Another Endeavor 0

I’m begun a new endeavor over this past week.  I’m writing fake news stories on a blog.  Yes, I know it’s just like the Onion.  I love the Onion.  I know this is a cheap rip-off.  But, the Onion has been around for years.  Can’t we have more than one fake news source on the web?  I mean besides fox news?  My goal is write a fake news story five days a week.  Check it out!

Jon McPlain 0

Today, I have finally revealed Jon McPlain.  Granted, he’s been talked about, but this is the first time I’ve actually showed him.  All in all, I’m rather proud of his design.  We now have both Prezidential candidates revealed in the strip.  Brock Obamarama, as some may recall, made an appearance last year during a different story.

Unshelved 0

Okay, so I have never actually made a san diego con report, and at this point, do we even care any more?  But, one link I neglected because I’m an idiot apparently was a great comic I discovered at SDCC called “Unshelved.”  Unshelved is a great comic about a library and the people who work and read there.  A comic about a library sounds like it should be rather lame, but it’s actually really clever.  I highly recommend it!

Nobody’s fault 0

The comic wasn’t uploaded until noon central today.  It’s not that the comic wasn’t done, it’s that there was no webbertube access at my house.  Once again, the internet broke at my house.  All summer, the access has been spotty at best.  I thought it was resolved last week when the company gave me a different modem.  Apparently not.

I uploaded today’s comic from the day job.  I’m hoping to have tomorrow’s done in time to be able to upload it before I leave.  I do not trust the internet connection at my home at this point.

If a comic is late, now you know why.

Game review: Mwahahaha!! 0

The other night, Ms. Main Squeeze and I played a new game called “Mwahahaha”.  Very fun.  I had heard of it on the internets and Tom from our local gaming store, Play It, was kind enough to order a copy for me.  (Even kinder, his sister, Maggie, used her store credit to buy it for me!)  It was fun with only two players, but tonight we’re going over to our friends’ house to play it with a larger group.

Mwahahaha is a game that feels like it was made for the Venture Bros.  Each player is given (or chooses) one of 10 mad scientist / villain personas.  Each persona (such as Dr. Hitler) is attempting to build a doomsday device, while building their evil empire and handling their minions.  Oh, and of course, having to deal with the other mad scientists (players) who are also trying to the same thing.  Gameplay is easy, once you get going.  The rule book is a little dense at times, but having read some stuff online since playing the other night with Ms. Main Squeeze, things are a lot clearer.  Gameplay tonight should go a lot smoother.  The game is won when someone has not only completed their doomsday device, but also unleashed not only upon a city, state, or nation, but the entire world.

All in all, the game was a fun experience.  There is a definite sense of humor one needs to have to thoroughly enjoy it.  If you enjoy games like Killer Bunnies, you’ll probably enjoy this.  If you like shows such as the Venture Bros, you’ll like the type of humor.  As I played it, I kept wishing there was a Venture Bros expansion for it, as well as something sort of super hero expansion.  After all, we have the villains, but where are the heroes to thwart them?  Clearly, this is a game capable of creating a franchise.

My score?  Four Smiley Faces!

Nuclear powered pie. 0

I don’t have an official con report with pictures quite done yet, but I do want to just briefly give a shout-out to some wonderful people I hung out with at the convention.  As usual, Spike and Dirk were a ton of fun.  Jerry was a pleasure as always.  I also got to meet Kris Straub, who does the best comic ever about a museum.  It was good to see Scott again, and I was amazed at how much his daughters have grown since the last time I saw them.  I also got to briefly see Raina, and I bumped into Tania and Will as well.  In artist’s alley, I got to visit with my old advisor from college, Peter, and next to him was long-time friend Zander.  I also got to meet Jose Cabrera, which was cool.  There are probably some other people I’m forgetting at the moment, but I’ll probably remember when I do the official con report.

Back from con, delays. 0

I’ve returned from the San Diego Comic Con!  There will be a full con report coming!  Also, while I was gone, apparently stuff went down.  And so did my internet connection.  Things are back up now, both for servers and for me, so the comic should be showing up shortly.  Thanks for your patience!

San Diego is almost upon us 0

The big one, San Diego Comic Con International, is almost upon us.  I will be there thursday, friday, and saturday.  I will not, however, have a booth, table, or any other such thing.  If you see me walking around, though, please do say hi.  Just because I’m free range this year doesn’t mean I don’t want to meet lots of cool people.

As for updates on FNS, I’m hoping to have through friday in the can before I go.  It may be tricky, but I’m still hoping to have it done.  If nothing else, thursday’s will be done and we’ll only miss friday.  By monday, all will be back to normal.

Superheroes I look forward to 0

It’s no secret that I love me some superheroes.  And villains.  Tomorrow night, of course is The Dark Night.  But, almost even better, Joss Whedon’s new project is available online! For free!  For now!  I am loving me some Dr. Horrible.  Man, I would love to see a series / show with Neil Patrick Harris and Nathon Fillion doing their thing!  That’s some good stuff.  If you haven’t seen it yet, you really should check it out.

GPA? 0

I love the idea that Janis just totally skips out on her classes to go see Ginny in the middle of a school day.  Of course, I must say that it is entirely possible that Janis simply does not have any classes scheduled and thus is not missing any.  Yes, that’s what it is.  I’m sure she’s the model student.
